His story in the episode

Fight King traps Finn and Jake inside a colosseum and forces them to face the ghosts of gladiators. Jake hunts for a way out while Finn does the fighting. As the episode goes on, Finn pretends that “bloodlust” is slowly taking hold of him.

All of the king’s power comes from his sword. Finn wins with a clever trick: he earns the king’s favor first, then asks for the sword on the pretext of killing Jake, and the moment he holds it, he breaks it, and Fight King’s power is gone.
